Admissions

New Student Admission

Incoming K4 and K5 students must be four years old and five years old respectively, by September 1 in the year of application.

TBA maintains a policy of open enrollment during the school year, with some exceptions. Generally, we begin the annual re-enrolment process for the following school year in February. The annual Open Enrollment period begins each March. Applications for Admission for both New and Returning Students are processed as they are received. Due to the unique nature of our education ministry, transfer students for grades K – 12 will not be considered for enrollment after the first week of the fourth quarter unless a recent move or substantial family hardship can be demonstrated.

Applicants for admission to grades 1 – 8 must provide a copy of the most recent or current report card and a copy of the withdrawal slip from the school most recently attended.

High school applicants must provide a copy of the most recent or current report card, or unofficial transcript and withdrawal slip (if changing schools during the school year).

An Application for Admission is required to be completed for all incoming students, along with a Lifestyle Agreement, both of which must be signed by a parent or guardian. The Lifestyle Agreement must also be read and signed by all students in grades 7 through 12.

Incoming students are required to provide a copy of a publicly certified birth certificate and an immunization/shot record.

Incoming students in grades 7 through 12 must also provide at least two character references. One must be from a previous teacher or school administrator and the other from a pastor, youth pastor or counselor.

Once the Application for Admission, Lifestyle Agreement, birth certificate, immunization record, character references where applicable and report card or transcripts have been received, together with payment for Enrollment and Testing Fees, a Placement Test and Family Interview will then be scheduled.

The Placement Test is administered to all new students to determine areas of academic strengths and weaknesses and establish that the student is equipped to be successful at the grade level for which they are applying for admission. There is a one-time testing fee of $40 for new students.

The Family Interview will be scheduled with the Principal and may also include the Elementary or Secondary Supervisor and/or the teacher for the grade for which admission is requested. The student and one or both parents/guardians are expected to attend this conference. The primary objective of the interview is to determine the compatibility of the student with the mission, vision and standards for attendance set for TBA. A second objective is to ensure that the parents/guardians understand and appreciate TBA’s mission, vision and standards of behavior, and that they are prepared to support us as we serve them.

Returning Student Enrollment

Students who have successfully completed the most recent academic year at TBA are considered returning students. Students returning after an absence of one academic year or more are considered new students.

The academic and behavioral status of all returning students is subject to review. Factors considered include low grades, lack of interest, questionable conduct or other behavior that is in conflict with the mission of TBA. Teacher and Supervisor input weigh heavily on decisions to readmit returning students.

Transfer Students

Students transferring from other schools are eligible for admission provided they meet the requirements described under New Student Admission. Credit is granted for course taken at accredited high schools. Temple Baptist Academy reserves the right to accept or refuse course which do not meet the New Mexico standards for academic courses.

Transfer students are placed on academic probation status for the first full quarter or such other time frame as may be determined by the Administrator on a case by case basis.

Transfer students must provide a reference letter from their current pastor, youth pastor, teacher or administrator of their previous school. Students who have been suspended from another school will not be admitted during the same semester of the suspension. Students who have been expelled from another school may be denied entrance to TBA during the current school year.

Due to the unique nature of our education ministry, transfer students for grades K – 12 will not be considered for enrollment after the first week of the fourth quarter unless a recent move or substantial family hardship can be demonstrated.
