Introduction Our Elementary School includes grades K4 – 6. We strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn something new every day! This is especially true about Jesus! Elementary is an exciting time for children and parents. It should also be one of the happiest, most glorious and memorable times in a child’s life. School shouldn’t be viewed or perceived as a “chore”. Rather, it should be highlighted as an important and vital part of each child’s day. Each child’s education, starting in the earliest elementary grades, represents a critical partnership among parents, children and teachers. It is for this reason that the teacher in the classroom is the primary point of contact for every parent. Curriculum Overview TBA utilizes the award-winning A Beka curriculum for Christian schools throughout the elementary grades. The core program includes Language Arts (including grammar, spelling, and handwriting); Math; Reading; Bible; Social Studies and Science. Each grade lays the foundation for each successive grade. TBA is able to employ differentiated instruction practices in each grade thanks to the excellent teacher to student ratio in place here. Homework Homework is a critical part of the education process and is given for the purposes of drill, practice and remedial instruction. Teachers are expected to ensure that all homework is meaningful and appropriate. While there are no set limits on the time that homework might require, the following list is provided for students, teachers and parents to use as a guide:
Any concerns regarding excessive homework should be directed to the appropriate teacher. If a problem develops and parents cannot resolve the issue with the teacher, then the administration will become involved. Participation in athletics is not an excuse for a student athlete not to complete homework assignments. In consideration of families who attend mid-week worship services, TBA will generally not assign homework on Wednesday nights in the elementary grades. Activities
Playground Rules Our primary concern is the safety of our students and the Christ-like interaction they display. For this reason we have implemented these basic playground rules:
