A Brief History

Temple Baptist Academy (TBA) began as a dream in the minds and hearts of a handful of dedicated parents and members of Temple Baptist Church.  Their desire to raise godly children in an increasingly ungodly culture demanded a school that would work with them and their church to “train up a child” God’s way.

Following four long years of preparing the groundwork, Temple Baptist Church opened the doors of Temple Baptist Academy in 1978.  The school included a full kindergarten through high school enrollment and graduated its first senior class in 1979.

From the outset, the founders of TBA set out to provide an educational opportunity grounded in the Word of God and dedicated to the education and development of the whole being, in spirit, soul and body (I Thessalonians 5:23).  The mission statement of the Academy today continues to reflect the high ideals set forth by the founders:  “To provide a Christ-centered education that prepares our students spiritually, academically, socially and physically for the life’s work God gives them.  (Luke 2:52)”

Temple is now in its 34th year of serving the Lord Jesus Christ and the families He sends us.  The Academy has a well-earned reputation for the educational opportunities available to all students who matriculate from TBA to serve the cause of Christ in today’s world.  This is accomplished by developing a biblical world view in the hearts and minds of our students.  Our vision statement continues to reflect this Christ-centered emphasis coupled with service:  “The only reason we exist is to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and the families He sends us.”

TBA has also enjoyed its share of success in its athletic programs.  TBA has won numerous District championship and other tournament championships in basketball, including the Men’s Division IIIA State Championship in 2005.  The ladies have also had success in league and district competition.  Ladies volleyball has been a powerhouse sport at TBA with the ladies winning their share of league and District post-season games over the years.  TBA is an active participant in the NMAA “Victory with Honor” program, and has been a blessing as an integral component of the TBA family experience over the years.
